| Current Implementation Resource Kit Projects Four new toolkits are currently being developed that focus on older adult's and children's populations, as well as the EBPs of Supported Housing and Consumer Operated Services. Below you will find information regarding the evidence and development surrounding these projects. We will continue to post information as it becomes available. Older Adults and Depression Implementation Resource Kit The mental health needs of older adults are complicated by age-associated changes in physiology, cognition, and social functioning (Bartels, 2003). Current estimates show that at least one in five people over the age 65 has a mental health disorder, and that total number will double over the next thirty years (Jeste, 1999). The Surgeon General's Report emphasizes the need to plan appropriately for this "major public health problem." (From Abt Task 4). In association with SAMHSA and Abt Associates, Inc., NRI is currently working to develop a resource kit for older adults. A consensus panel consisting of seven experts is overseeing the development of the IRK for older adults with depression. Click here to read a report of the Older Adult Consensus Panel Meeting held in December of 2005. Below are several resources related to older adult EBPs. The children's toolkit will compile information about EBPs for children and adolescents with disruptive behavior disorders. This toolkit will emphasize information helpful for selecting and implementing EBPs for these two populations, and will also have information tailored for different sets of user groups (i.e., consumers, families, practitioners, administrators) and will follow the general structure of the six original toolkits for adults. |
