Funding

Funding is a vital aspect to any implementation process but must be allocated in an efficient manner and can be used as a tool to achieve desired outcomes. Here are some suggestions on how to structure and obtain funding:

  • Identify and shift resources, not just mental health
  • Must think of all EBPs funded in common way
  • Use reliable cost and budget modeling
  • Identify which services Medicaid will cover and how the state plan can be revised to cover additional services
  • Lobbying: mental health is not optional
  • Utilizing fiscal incentives
  • No fidelity / no $ --Tie outcome to $
  • Define core expectations
  • Explicit funding for supervisor/training
  • Budget must be managed carefully
  • Keep transitional budgets realistic and goal-oriented
  • Evaluate for larger changes even with one EBP that may payoff for future EBPs.
